Brief interview with Muriel Beck Kadima, Delegate of the European Conference of Churches, Geneva
My expectations concerning the forthcoming conference is that the governments won't cut too much. They do not take serious that we are Europeans.

As the NGOs, we can fight the ideology at racism with scientific reasonings. We, European NGOs, should have a particular responsibility to apologize at the World Conference on Racism to all those who suffered with slavery, colonialism, etc. - something like the Catholic Church and German companies and churches did towards the Jews. Europe has played a big role in the past and even in present in developing the structural and institutional racism.

We should act not only locally and nationally "from principle to practice" but also globally. We also have to get more visibility to "anti-black" racism which is still in our minds as a very deep-rooted discriminatory attitude - not only to discuss immigrant and asylum policies.
