Policies and practices to combat racism and related discrimination at local and national level were discussed among governmental and non-governmental representatives. Lots of issues and motion for amendments of the final general conclusions were raised.

The topic which was already discussed on the NGO Forum' workshop and was highlighted in our previous review, this time was brought to the level of European Conference and will be a subject of discussion of settled working group for one more day. It was decided to concentrate today on the Context of Racism and its Contemporary forms, on History and Everyday Racism in the relation with Education. After several starting presentations, the participants had an opportunity to contributes

Conference of the NGO's in Warsaw from November 14 to 18th!
The details of the regional NGO meeting for Eastern and Central Europe have been released. It will take place in Warsaw from 14-18 November 2000. Contact, Mr. Marek Nowicki, Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, at jacques@hfhrpol.waw.pl. This meeting is one of four regional NGO meetings organised by the UN intended to feed into the NGO Forum.

Report of working group: Information, Communication and Media
Thursday, 12 october 2000, morning session
This working group was chaired by Mrs. Beate Winkel. She asked to the participants to come up with concrete ideas, proposals and good practices to finalize the draft General Conclusions. She pointed out the fact that it is possible to influence the general conclusions, although they are more or less finalized. In a way she apologized for the frustration that might occur from this...
