Ratification CERD: yes in 1969, Brazil has also agreed to individual petitions under Article 14.


Extracts from state reply to Durban Review questionnaire:
In 2003, the Special Secretariat for the Promotion of Racial Equality Policies (SEPPIR) and the National Council for the Promotion of Racial Equality (CNPIR) were created and the National Policy for the Promotion of Racial Equality was adopted. Legislation that include measures against racist acts: the Constitution, the Torture Law, the Law of Qualified Injury for Prejudice, the Anti-discrimination Law and the Law on Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History Education.
