Extracts from state reply to Durban Review questionnaire:
The Constitution of Burkina Faso provides for equality of treatment and prohibits racial discrimination as well as all forms of discrimination. Decree of 2004 on code of conduct for the national police proclaims that the national police is in the service of the nation and must discharge this obligation in accordance with human rights and international laws applicable. There is also the right to participate in public life. Racism and xenophobia are social problems quite well known in Burkina Faso. Article 1 of the Constitution prohibits discrimination of all forms.
