Ratification CERD: yes in 1969, Iceland has also agreed to individual petitions under Article 14.


Extracts from ECRI's third report (adopted in June 2006):
An immigration council has been established, to improve co-ordination and initiative in policy-making concerning immigrants and integration. However, immigrants are still exposed to a higher risk of exploitation and discrimination. ECRI is concerned about the position of immigrant women, who continue to be victim of domestic violence. The legal framework to combat racism and racial discrimination still remains to be strengthened and better implemented.
