Extracts from state reply to Durban Review questionnaire:
There have been far-reaching changes in the country's criminal code to reflect commitment in fighting racism and discrimination. A new governmental body, the Minority Issues Assessment Board, has been in operation since 2004 addressing problems encountered by non-Muslim minorities. The Criminal Code that entered into force in 2005 defines discrimination as an offence and penalizes acts of discrimination including on race. It also defines genocide ands crimes against humanity, including acts against members of a racial group.
